Have you ever felt like you’re not good enough? Like you can’t achieve your dreams because of your limitations? If so, you’re not alone.


We all have dreams and aspirations that we want to achieve but often we are held back by our limiting beliefs. These beliefs are rooted in our childhood and past experiences and can be so ingrained in our minds that they dictate our present and future actions. Self-doubt is the number one limiting belief that plagues so many individuals, especially women. It can be challenging to break free from these thoughts that constantly hold us back but it is possible.   


It’s important to realise that these thoughts are not based on reality. You can overcome them and unlock your true potential.

Identify Your Limiting Beliefs

The first step in overcoming your limiting beliefs and self-doubt is identifying them. You can’t work on something if you don’t know what it is. Take some time to reflect on your thoughts and actions. Can you recognise any negative patterns that may be holding you back?  What are some beliefs that you have about yourself and what you can accomplish that may be holding you back?


Ask yourself questions like “What do I believe about myself?” or “What do I fear?”  Write them down and examine them. Are these beliefs facts or are they just assumptions that you have made based on your past experiences?


Challenge Your Thoughts

Once you have identified your limiting beliefs, it’s time to challenge them. Ask yourself if your beliefs are really true and based on facts or if they are just assumptions.  Are they helping you or holding you back? If they’re not serving you, it’s time to let them go.


Try to find evidence that disproves your limiting beliefs. When you start to challenge your thoughts, you’ll begin to realise that they are not as valid as you once thought. Remember, thoughts are just thoughts and they do not define who you are or what you can accomplish.  


Replace negative self-talk with positive affirmations. For example, instead of saying “I’m not good enough,” say “I am capable of achieving my goals.”


Surround Yourself With Positivity

It’s essential to surround yourself with positivity & positive influences when you’re trying to break free from limiting beliefs. Surround yourself with people who encourage and inspire you. Read books, listen to podcasts and consume content that helps shift your mindset to a more positive one. By doing this consistently, you will begin to reprogram your brain to think positively.  Surrounding yourself with positivity can help you stay motivated and on track towards your goals.


Believe in Yourself

Believing in yourself is crucial when it comes to unlocking your potential. You need to have confidence in your abilities and know that you have what it takes to achieve your dreams. It’s essential to celebrate your wins – big or small – as they will help you build your self-esteem. Remember that you are capable of achieving anything you set your mind to if you believe in yourself.


Continuously work on your mindset

Breaking free from limiting beliefs is an ongoing process. It takes time and effort to change your thought patterns. Continuously work on your mindset by practicing self-care, mindfulness and reflecting on your beliefs. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you experience setbacks, as they are part of the process.


Take Action

Finally, taking action is the key to breaking free from limiting beliefs. Once you’ve identified your limiting beliefs, challenged them, surrounded yourself with positivity and believed in yourself, it’s time to take action. Start small and work your way up. Set achievable goals that will help you build momentum and remember to celebrate your wins. Don’t let fear hold you back from pursuing your dreams. Use your newfound positive mindset to take small steps towards your goals every day. 


Remember that progress is more important than perfection. Celebrate your successes, no matter how small they may seem.  As you take action towards your goals, you will build confidence in yourself and your abilities.

Remember to identify your limiting beliefs, challenge your thoughts, surround yourself with positivity, believe in yourself and take action.
