Hi, I'm the owner and founder of Menopositive and here to help you ditch the witch and get classy, sassy and a little bit badassy too.

Are you approaching menopause, or are you in the midst of it?  If so, I’m pretty sure you’ll have heard how terrible it will be and how it can ruin your life.  As women, we are constantly bombarded with negative stories about menopause in the media – from newspapers, magazines, TV and now Podcasts & Social Media too. From hot flashes to weight gain, it seems like there’s no end to the list of symptoms that can come with this stage of life.

But before you panic, there are a few things that you should know.  What if I told you that menopause doesn’t have to be a negative experience?

In this blog post, we’ll explore why it’s important not to let these negative stories in the media ruin your life.

Menopause is a natural part of life

First and foremost, it’s important to remember that menopause is a completely natural part of the aging process. While it can bring with it some discomfort, it’s not something to be ashamed of or to fear. In fact, many women find that they feel more confident and self-assured than ever before after going through menopause. Rather than focusing on the negative aspects of this stage of life, try to embrace it as a new chapter and an opportunity for growth.

Everyone’s experience is different

It’s also important to remember that everyone’s experience of menopause is different. While some women may experience more severe symptoms than others, it’s important not to compare yourself to others or to assume that your experience will be the same as someone else’s.  Some women barely even notice when they start going through it, while others feel like they’re being hit by a massive truck.

The way that menopause affects you will depend on a variety of factors, including your genetics, lifestyle and overall health.

Focus on what you’re feeling and what works best for you in terms of managing your symptoms.

Is it just clickbait?

Remember, not everything that you read in the press about menopause is accurate. While it’s true that menopause can bring about a range of symptoms, not all of them are negative. Some women actually report feeling more in control of their lives during menopause, as they’re no longer dealing with the ups and downs of their menstrual cycle.  Feeling good doesn’t necessarily work for the media though, they seem to want everyone to just be miserable al the time.

It’s good to talk

It’s important to talk to someone about what you’re going through. Whether it’s a friend, family member, therapist, or doctor – talking about your symptoms and your feelings can help you to feel less alone. It can also help you to get the support and guidance that you need in order to manage your symptoms and stay positive.

Managing symptoms

It’s important to remember that there are plenty of things that you can do to help manage the symptoms of menopause. These might include things like adopting a healthy diet, getting regular exercise and making sure that you’re getting enough sleep.  There are plenty of supplements and medications that can help to manage symptoms like hot flashes and insomnia. From hormone replacement therapy to natural remedies like herbal supplements and acupuncture, there are many options available to help you feel more comfortable during this stage of life.

Don’t be afraid to try different things and find what works best for you.

Self-care is crucial

Another key element of managing the menopause transition is practicing self-care. This can include things like eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and prioritising rest and relaxation. It can also mean taking steps to reduce stress and prioritise your mental and emotional health.

Growth and self-discovery

It’s important to remember that menopause can be a time of growth and self-discovery. It can be an opportunity to reflect on our lives so far and consider what we want to prioritise moving forward. Rather than seeing it as an ending, try to view it as a new beginning and a chance to create the life you truly want.

Transformation time?

Finally, it’s important to remember that menopause is not the end of the road. In fact, for many women, it can be a powerful and transformational time in their lives. Menopause can force you to make decisions about what you truly want out of life. It gives you the opportunity to shed old patterns and beliefs that are holding you back, and to embrace a new chapter in your life.

In conclusion, menopause can be challenging but it doesn’t have to ruin your life. While it’s easy to get caught up in the negative stories about menopause in the press, it’s important not to let them dictate how we feel about this stage of life. By focusing on the positive aspects, embracing self-care, exploring different symptom management strategies and seeing menopause as an opportunity for growth, we can create a more positive and empowering experience for ourselves.

With the right mindset, lifestyle choices and support, you can manage your symptoms and move forward with your life.

Remember to stay positive, take care of yourself and talk to someone if you need help. Menopause isn’t the end – it’s just the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in your life.

So don’t let the negative press ruin your life – embrace menopause and all that it has to offer.
